Why Do Republicans Oppose Socialized Healthcare?
They don’t oppose socialized roads, public utilities, and Medicare. Granted, we don’t have many socialized systems left after 30 years of Reaganomics. However, could it be that Republicans don’t want to deal with a privatized water system when the sewers back up? Does the idea of a “road insurance” system scare Republicans? A “system” where a bunch of corporations would make billions from premiums from everyone to drive on roads that are usually closed, in bad repair, or unavailable. A “system” where some “road insurance” CEO’s would make millions a year in salary and buy jets and gold plated toilets on the backs of the premium payers? A “system” where most people couldn’t use the roads despite paying based on “pre-existing car conditions”. Miss an oil change, and you can no longer drive more than 50 miles a day. How about some roads that drive into each other because of mass mis-management and profiteering. Then people could be killed by the road system too. Basically, a system like America’s dysfunctional healthcare for our highways. Hey, at least it would NOT be socialism – and according to Republicans socialism is always bad. Frankly, I don’t see how they can drive on public roads and use any public facilities or products. Talk about hypocrites.
Well we do have publicly buit roads, or toll roads. Built and maintained by private companys. Since these are not tax funded only people who drive them pay for them. These roads seem to be in much better repair than most of the state owned roads I drive. We had one toll road the gov took back just a few years latter it became horrible.
To make sure they stay in good repair and one lane is always open they are contracted and fined if they are not done right. What is the incentive to run a public road like that. Nobody looses their job or money if the road is down a while.
As for health care, I don’t what the government having that kind of social control over the masses. I don’t like them buying votes and it is none of their bussniess how I manage my body. If the governent takes charge they will extend that control all over the med sector.
Let us have military insurance as our example. Doctors were paid by the day, not patient or precedure. It would take my wife a 5 month wait to get birth control. My friends wife was trying to get on it the same time my wife was. My wife and his had the same wait time for the appointment. Because the system was over burdened other things took priority so we waited. His wife got pregnat a month in and had a doctors appointment the day after because prenatal was very important. You see how this works.
I want my doctor to know my money and myself can and will go somewhere else if I don’t get what I like and gov healthcare may work at first but the system will get over ran watch and see it happens everywhere. It is a good thing if your dieing right then a bad thing if you have a fever and want to get better quick.
Plus I work a job that I hate that pays a little less than what I could make elsewhere so I can get really good insurance. I don’t want anybody being given what I have to work hard for. Call me old fashioned but I believe in hard work and self reliance.
Public does not equal socialized, so get a grip and stop exaggerating. You really need to grow up and stop using bad examples that you damn well don’t make sense. You’re just flaming because you are afraid you might not be right. As with another question I have to say that I’m not even on the Republicans side and I feel I have to defend them against your idiotic mass generalization.
Excellent comparison of roads to health care. I think republicans want to control people to think they can only rely on republicans. The health care industry is big business and republicans profit from it with campaign contributions. With republicans it is all about the money and how much they can benefit. I think we saw that with the oil industry.
Here is why I oppose it.
1. Many countries with socialized medicine are now collapsing, and medical prices are going up from socialized medicine
2. Socialized medicine causes huge waiting lines… Have you not seen the testimonies? Some girls in Europe are denied a mamogram untill they are 25.
3. Patient confidentiality will become nonexistent.
You don’t want to sit in the same waiting room with someone from another part of town who comes to the clinic in dirty jeans, do you? And if you have to share a room, do you want to have the guy in the next bed to be a worker from Walmart. You might as well ask to end it quickly!
Conservatives oppose socialized medicine for a number of reasons. For me, reason #1 is because socialism and liberalism is just legalized theft. Steal (tax) from one and give to another.

Because the health insurance companies tell them to oppose health insurance reform and because they don’t want poor people to have health care.
They represent big money and big business and don’t want the insurance industry to have to compete.

I havent met anyone that does. I have howefver met many meny people that dont like the current FAIL loser program the democrats have put together. See, many of us WORKING people realize adding another $1.8 trillion to he national debt is NOT a good idea. Further every single place where there has been nationalised health care, the care sucks, it is rationed, and more people die from curable diseases. See, many of us would rather pay a little more and not die. Heres a question for you. WHy dont you live in a cardboard box? I mean its cheaper. We could afford to let everyone live in cardboard boxes rather than homes. I would get behind that program. A new cardboard box for everyone to live in. what? you arent behind that program? WHY? Why are you against housing the homeless people? Do you hate the poor? Why are liberals such haters!
Examine all government programs and how they have ended up. Bloated, bankrupt and non effective. Paying people on the welfare tab is not helping them it is supporting them creating generational bums. Same with health care. If government takes total control in a matter of weeks it will be beyond expensive and bloated totally non effective. Government programs allow for those in Washington seeking to fleece the system a grand opportunity to fulfill their dreams. Politicians are thieves. Make no mistake about that. What Obama and crew are proposing is not socialism it’s organized crime.
There are many reasons, my biggest reason is because it will take billions from medicare, which means that the elderly in this country will not be able to get the care they so desperately need and when they need it. I don’t know about you, but I love my only living grandmother who is 95 yrs old next week, who raised me when I was a little girl, and I also love my mother and the other elderly people in this country and do not want them denied health care.
Also, it will cost this country trillions of dollars which we cannot afford, ALL of our taxes will go up and we will be required to purchase health care weather we can afford it or not, if we can’t afford it or don’t want it, we will be penalized hundreds of dollars. The wait time just to see a doctor will be months, there will be a shortage of doctors, and then if we need a specialist it will be more months of waiting time and if we need surgery or certain meds, most will be denied because of the cost, (rationing) MANY PEOPLE WILL DIE WAITING FOR TREATMENT.
Like in socialized countries many women with breast cancer die waiting for treatment, many people with other cancers and other life threatening diseases, ect, die waiting for treatment and approval of treatments.
Our health care system here may not be perfect but we have the best health care system in the world, that is why so many people come here to the US for treatment, because they will die waiting for it in their country and the care here is better as well.
Many doctors will change professions because they cannot afford to keep practicing here in the US and they will not be able to give their patients the proper care they need, because a bureaucrat will be making the decisions on who gets treatment and who does not get treatment.
They think if something becomes socialized that we ourselves are socialists, they’re so stuck on what are title of government is. They forget that we’re one of the few countries that made capitalism work, but it still has flaws, other countries that tried capitalism had this same problem with absolutely everything being privately owned. Privat marketing is a good thing but if they can tax us, they could at least use OUR money to help us out with healthcare. I’m not saying they should make healthcare free, but they should do something to where it doesn’t cost so damn much, it’s ridiculous, you have to be loaded to get good medical insurance….but that’s america for ya, if you didn’t work hard enough to get that fancy job for the government so they can make money taxing your ***, then who cares if you’re covered medically, what’s the worst that could happen you might die? That’s not so bad
Why limit your question to Repubs only? That’s part of the problem. People like you think that there are only two ways to look at something; either the Dem or Repub view. These two paradigms are the major cause of why we are in such a mess.
Now, on to your question. I oppose socialized health care. Why? Because a great deal of people’s health issues are caused by themselves; obesity, smoking, drug abuse, lack of exercise, poor eating habits, etc. Why should I or those who take good care of themselves pony up more to care for others who don’t??? People pay more for car insurance when they have bad driving records. Health insurance should be no different. If you want a Mommy Government, move to Cuba. I’ll help you pack.
Well, these reforms that Obama wants to bring in will not bring in socialised healthcare. But the right oppose such things as the (un)insurance companies that pay politicians (some democrats included) tell them to.

FACT – PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [b]
FACT – Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [c]
FACT – the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [d]
FACT – Obama was elected by the American people to bring in change [e]
FACT – Obama wants to stop insurance companies screwing the American people [f]
FACT – The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and in Switzerland [g]

Even as a multimillionaire doctor is little different than a multimillionaire nun.
Because the Democrats control the Congress. And another reason is, they believe the Government are spending people’s money on HealthCare. But there’s nothing wrong with that. We all need HealthCare.
