RFID Like
RFID, or Radio Frequency ID, is the newest program to be implemented by the Land Transportation Office. It aims to provide greater ease and protection to motorists and all citizens. It can reduce traffic, prevent theft and other crimes. It can also protect commuters and public utility drivers. Every vehicle will be tagged and assigned unique ID numbers. The tag or sticker will contain important information about the vehicle such as ownership, registration and insurance. Data from the tags can be retrieved and verified using readers located at strategic roads and intersections. The system uses radio frequency waves to gather, store and retrieve data. It reduces the amount of time and labor needed to input data manually, and improves data accuracy. With RFID, citizens can expect more effective traffic management and law enforcement schemes for peace and order in the streets.
